Occupational Background: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce; President, Milwaukie Downtown Development Assoc.; Board Member, Clackamas County Business Alliance; Board Member, North Clackamas Education Foundation.

Educational Background: LaSalle High School, B.S. - Business Administration and Arts and Letters, Portland State University; Pacific Program, Leadership Development (2007), University of Oregon

Prior Governmental Experience: Mayor, City of Milwaukie (2001-2009); Vice-Chair, Clackamas County Coordinating Committee; Joint Policy Advisory Council on Transportation (2002-2009);

Currently Servicing on Oregon State Community Corrections Commission; Legislative Committee, Board Member, and Vice-Chair Public Safety Committee, Association of Oregon Counties  (AOC) ; Member, Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee, Housing and Economic Development Steering Committee, National Association of Counties (NACO).

Proven Leadership: 

Elected Clackamas County Commissioner- 2008 to present.

Elected Mayor of Milwaukie three times, Jim has led the fight to bring jobs and economic   development to Clackamas County. Jim has secured millions in private in­vestment  and countless new jobs for Oregon families.

Under his leadership, Bernard has reduced major crime in Clackamas County and in Clackamas County-We need to make strategic investments in public safety to keep us safe.

As your Commissioner, Jim Bernard has made recruiting and retention of businesses that create family wages jobs his #1 priority.
